JOB DESCRIPTION
1- What is a Quality Inspector ?
A quality Inspector in the food and beverage industry is in charge of the products’ quality & safety that a company produces.
S/he checks the physics and chemical features (freshness, taste, smell, aspect, color etc.) through tests and sampling phases.
Her/his final goal is to ensure a product’s compliance according to the applicable norms and regulations. And to guarantee the final product’s quality and food safety, s/he needs to ensure the premises and storages’ safety and the people’s hygiene also.
2- What are the main missions ?

Define and apply the quality policy

Define and apply the quality and safety process

Collect, measure, analyze and check the quality through tests phases

Check the hygiene of the rooms, floors but also the temperature

Build and write the company’s quality procedure according to the norms

Interpret and transmit the results to the teams

Management : s/he will ensure the team’s safety & hygiene but also educate them on the procedures

Mastering of food’s procedures : food safety, quality inspection techniques

Knowledge about CGD (computer-generated design)

4- How to become a Quality Inspector in the Food & Beverage Industry ?
To become a Quality Inspector in the Food and Beverage Industry, professionals generally graduate from a BTEC Higher National Diploma (2years degree) or a Bachelor(3 years degree).They specialize in agroindustries, quality, safety, environment, foods quality or industrial risks management.
With a background and expertise, s/he can claim to take the job’s position of internal auditor, quality engineer or consultant.
What are the main challenges of this job today ?
The main challenge of a Quality Inspector today is to ensure food safety in a global crisis context. With the energy crunch impacting manufacturers, shortages of raw materials and labor force, but also delay in shipping, the Quality Inspector needs to adapt her/his work to limit short and long-term impacts whether they are on the food safety or on the company’s revenue.
